9th ANNUAL BILL KELLEY MEMORIAL ROAD RACE RAISES $16,500
FOR NEW HORIZONS FOR NEW HAMPSHIRE
Race Honors Founding Member of New Horizons
MANCHESTER, NH – September 12, 2012
The Executive Health and Sports Center hosted the 9th Annual Bill Kelley Memorial 5 & 10 K Road Race and Relay on Sunday, July 29th, which raised $16,500 and included over 300 runners. Since the race began it has raised $112,000 for the homeless shelter, food pantry and soup kitchen.
This road race honors Bill Kelley, a prominent Manchester attorney, and adventurer who enjoyed participating in sports activities. Bill fought a courageous battle up until his death in 2003. He will always be remembered as someone who loved life and serving people in his capacity of legal advocate. He was a founding member of New Horizons for NH.
“We are so grateful for Riverstone Resources helping to make this event a great success by taking a leadership role as major sponsor” said Deborah Ouellette, Race Director and Business Manager of the Executive Health and Sports Center. Other sponsors included Autofair, Bernstein Shur, Centrix Bank and Bedford Ambulatory Surgical Center. Food was donated by Sizzle Bistro, Poultry Products, Executive Sports and Health Center, Coca-Cola and Great State Beverages. Paper products were donated by Central Paper.
The race was originally created by close friends Michael Benton owner of the Executive Health and Sports Center and Roy Tilsley, Jr., Kelley’s former law partner. “We wanted to find a way to honor Bill’s memory while also making a difference in our community. Honoring Bill’s deep commitment to New Horizons was the catalyst for us to organize this race.” said Attorney Tilsley.
This fun event included a post-race barbecue on the pool deck and at the Tiki bar of the Executive and a silent auction.
