New Horizons to Construct Urban Greenhouse

New venture will supply fresh food to soup kitchen and food pantry

 Manchester, NH – August 13, 2013

 New Horizons for New Hampshire has partnered with Rimol Greenhouse Systems of Hooksett, NH to build a greenhouse in which New Horizons can grow produce for its soup kitchen and food pantry. The greenhouse, which is being donated by Rimol Greenhouse Systems, is a 30 x 72 polycarbonate structure. It will be located on the lot adjacent to New Horizons.

 Mike Marrett, Owner of Rimol Greenhouse Systems said “We are thrilled to be able to work with New Horizons and provide a vehicle for them to increase their self-sufficiency”.

 New Horizons plans to plant and grow its own produce in the greenhouse under the supervision of a master gardener with trained volunteers. This will be the only urban greenhouse located in a major city in the State of New Hampshire.

 “I am so thrilled at this wonderful donation by Rimol, we look forward to growing our own fruits and vegetables to provide to our clients.” said New Horizons Executive Director, Charlie Sherman.

 The site work has begun and construction is scheduled for the week of August 12^th.

 Each day New Horizons for New Hampshire provides hot meals to over 250 individuals and families, each month over 900 individuals and families look to New Horizons for groceries and every night an average of 80 adult men and women stay in New Horizons’ two shelters.
