Charlie Sherman Joins New Horizons as New Executive Director

Monday, May 23rd marks a new day at New Horizons for New Hampshire (NHNH) as a new Executive Director takes over the helm to lead the emergency shelter, food pantry and soup kitchen at 199 Manchester Street and Angie’s Shelter for Women.
Charlie Sherman, formerly of WGIR Radio, has been hired as the new Executive Director by the Board of Directors.In addition to being a well known local media personality, Charlie has extensive management experience in the Banking industry and through owning his own small business. Throughout his career, Charlie has been a tireless advocate for many non-profits, he is community service driven, and has a unique background that impressed the search committee.
“Charlie will be a good fit and a tremendous asset to us as we move forward to meet the increasing demand for our services, and as we consider possible renovation and expansion opportunities”, said Roy Tilsley, NHNH Board President.
“Charlie has always been someone that I could call upon to help in any situation,” said Nan Comai, NHNH Development Director.“We are thrilled to have such a great presence, to bring us to the next [fundraising] level which is so important in these times,” continued Comai.
When Sherman was asked as to why he chose to leave radio and come to New Horizons, he stated, “I want to give back to the very community that has supported me through-out my career.”

While we will miss Charlie, we are very happy that he has the opportunity to continue and expand his charitable activities for such a great organization as New Horizons.
Sherman was New Hampshire’s most popular television personality during his tenure as sports director of WMUR-TV Channel 9 in New Hampshire. He will leave as host of a morning radio show on five New Hampshire stations. He has won numerous awards for his excellence in sports broadcasting. Charlie and his wife, Michelle [Moore], live in Amherst, NH. They have two grown children, Adam and Justin.
New Horizons for New Hampshire is a soup kitchen, food pantry and provides emergency shelter at 199 Manchester Street and Angie’s for Women on Union Street.
Everyone is welcome to come in and tour the facility. Monthly tours are planned for the second Thursday of each month. Tours begin at 12 noon. Light refreshments are served. No RSVP is required.
